Chen Ying Lu - Baroque Viola

Chen Ying Lu took her first viola lessons in her native city Taipei, Taiwan. She relocated to Europe to proceed her education as a violist in her early years. Next to her studies with Prof. Karl Stierhof (Wien, Austria) and Prof. Thoams Riebl (Salzburg, Austria) she has participated in the “Camerata Academica” of the Mozarteum in Salzburg under the direction of Sandor Végh. In Germany she supplemented her studies with Prof. Nobuko Imai (Detmold) and received scholarships from Yale university (Connecticut, USA) and “Villa Musica” (Neuwied, Germany).

The scholarship at “Villa Musica” and her deep interest in historical performance practice led to a longstanding musical cooperation with Reinhard Goebel and his ensemble “Musica Antiqua Köln”. During this collaboration she took part in worldwide tours and award-winning CD-productions. Since 2001 Chen-Ying Lu is member of festival symphony orchestra of the “Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele” under the direction of Pietari Inkinen and in 2014 as a soloist with lute accompaniment. She is also a core member of Stuttgart’s baroque ensemble “il gusto barocco”. She has also been collaborating with Erich Höbarth (Wien, Austria) since 2013 to broaden her interpretative and melodious perspective.
